The Rajasthan Civil Service Commission (RPSC) is the body empowered by the Constitution of India to select candidates for civil service positions in the Indian state of Rajasthan according to the rules of merit and candidate qualification. Advises the Government of Rajasthan on all matters related to recruitment, appointment, transfer, promotion, professional standards and disciplinary procedures for public officials.
In this capacity, the Committee organizes the state’s hiring, selection and screening processes, and selection boards for candidates for appointments to civil servants and public offices. PRSC started operations in 1949 when Rajasthan was established as a state. The Commission consists of eight members who are assisted and advised by staff from the Commission Secretariat.
The offices are in Ajmer. Rajasthan Public Service Commission has a glorious past of nearly 70 years. In 1923, the Lee Commission recommended the establishment of a central commission for the civil service in India, but did not pay much attention to the need for similar commissions in the provinces. The recruitment and control of their services was largely left to the discretion of provincial governments, as they saw fit.
