India Security Press, Nasik Road, formerly known as “Security Printing India” until 1947, was founded in 1924 on the basis of a letter prepared by Lt.Colonnello Sir George H. Willis, Master of Mint, Mumbai und M. D. Ascoli, ICS, Controller of Printing Stamps.Actual printing began in the factory in 1925.

Attached to the Indian Security Press is the Central Stamp Depot, which is primarily responsible for the storage and distribution of stamps and other security-related items based on impressions reported by various customers. The actual formation of the Central Stamp Store occurred in October 1983. Prior to 1983, the CSD was known as the (CSS) Central Stamp Store.
