About RRCAT Recruitment 2023 – 150 Apprentice Posts Apply Online IndGovtjobs

The center designed, developed and launched two synchrotron radiation sources on-site: Indus-1 and Indus-2, which serve as the national facility. Indus-1 is a 450 MeV, 100 mA electron storage ring that emits mid-to-low infrared X-rays with a critical wavelength of about 61 Å. Indus-2 is a 2.5 GeV electron storage ring for X-ray generation. The synchrotron radiation emitted by its bending magnets has a broad spectrum covering the soft and hard X-ray regions with a length-critical wavelength of ~ 2 Å.

With a circumference of 172.5 m and a beam energy of 2.5 GeV, Indus-2 is currently the largest and most powerful particle accelerator in the country.

The center carries out several other important acceleration activities, e.g. Development of a high-energy proton accelerator for a spallation neutron source, electron accelerators for food irradiation and industrial applications, terahertz (THz) and infrared (IR) free-electron lasers (FEL), superconductors and materials for magnetic fields needed for accelerators, development of technologies such as superconducting cavities and radio frequency cryomodules (SCRF), high power radio frequency (RF) generators, cryogenics, magnets, ultra-high vacuum, precision manufacturing and control instruments to support various research and development programs.
