The Agricultural Scientist Recruitment Board (ASRB) was established with the approval of the Government on 1 November 1973 as an independent recruitment agency based on the recommendations of the Gajendragadkar Commission. The Government of India in the Union Cabinet meeting on August 01, 2018 approved the Restructuring Council and issued Notification No. 25/CM/2018(i) on August 6, 2018; Case No. 213/25/2018 (p. 7).

The decision was officially notified in the Government of India Official Gazette on 9 August 2018. As a result, the ASRB was separated from ICAR and merged with the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Government of India. In addition, the reformed boards have their own administrative staff in the secretariat and independent administrative control of the respective administration. A separate budget head was created in DARE for ASRB.
