AIIMS Raipur is one of the SIX AIIMS Health Institutes established by the Ministry of Health and Health. Family Welfare, Government of India under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY).
In order to eliminate regional disparities in quality tertiary health care in the country and achieve self-sufficiency in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training, PMSSY planned to establish six new AIIMS-like facilities in low-care areas of the country.
