About BSF Recruitment 2023 – 1284 Constable (Tradesman) Job Vacancy Apply Online
By 1965, the India-Pakistan border was occupied by the State Armed Police Battalion. On April 9, 1965, Pakistan attacked Sardar Post, Chhar Bet and Beria Bet in Kutch. This exposed the inability of the state armed police to deal with an armed attack, leading the Indian government to feel the need for an armed, centrally controlled and trained border security force to protect the international border with Pakistan.
Following the recommendations of the Committee of Secretaries of , the Border Security Force was formed on December 1, 1965, the first leader and founding father of which was Shri KF Rustamji IP. Initially in 1965, the BSF was increased by 25 billion and over time it was expanded according to the needs of the nation to fight militants in Punjab, J&K, the North East region etc.
Currently, the BSF has 192 bln (including 03 NDRF) and 07 BSF artillery regiments guarding the international border with Pakistan and Bangladesh. In addition, the BSF also assumes the role of counter-infiltration in the Kashmir Valley, counterinsurgency operations in the Northeast region, anti-Naxal operations in Odisha and Chhattisgarh states, and securing integrated checkpoints along the international border with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
