About GPLF Bargarh Recruitment 2023 – 137 Community Support Staff Apply for Best Indian Government Jobs

GPLF Bargarh Recruitment 2023 - 137 Community Support Staff Apply for Best Indian Government Jobs

Bargarh is a district on the western edge of the state of Orissa. Before 1992 it was a branch of Sambalpur District. Bargarh District established on April 1, 1993 was separated from Sambalpur District. It is one of the most notable districts of Odisha. Bargarh is named after the capital city of Bargarh, which is located on the left bank of the Jirariver River. The city lies on National Highway No. 6 and is 59 km west of Sambalpur district.

It is also served by the DBK railway line which runs from Jharsuguda to Titlagarh. The train station is about 3 km from the city. A meter gauge railway line connects Bargarh to the Dunguri limestone quarry. The main Hirakud Canal runs through the city and is known as the Bargarh Canal. District Bargarh is located in the westernmost corner of Odisha, between 20 degrees 43′ and 21 degrees 41′ north latitude and 82 degrees 39′ and 83 degrees 58′ east longitude.

The district is surrounded by Chhatisgarh State to the north, Sambalpur District to the east, Balangir and Subarnapur District to the south, and Nuapada District to the west. The original name of the village was Baghar Kota according to an 11th century AD inscription. It was probably called Bargarh during the time of BalaramDev, the first Chouhan Raj of Sambalpur, who made it his headquarters for some time and built a great fortress for its protection.

Narayan Singh, the last Chouhan Raja, granted this post on Meowth (rent free) to two Brahmin brothers Krushna Das and Narayan Das son of Baluki Das who was killed in battle by Gondu rebels led by Bandha Ray and Mahapatra Ray. The grant is known as the Sira-kata (decapitation) grant. To know the history of the new district of Bargarh, one cannot ignore the history of the undivided district of Sambalpur as Bargarh was one of the subdivisions of the former Sambalpur district.

This district is close to the Sambalpur division which is separated by the Mahanadi river. The Chuhans were the most powerful, ruling a group of 18 states in western Orissa and eastern Madhya Pradesh. The Chauhan States, which were crumbling under the influence of British imperialism, passed into the hands of the East India Company in 1849 when the last Raja Narayan Singh died childless. The Chief Assistant British Agent for the South East Frontier, based in Ranchi, took over the administration of these states.

Before 1905, the Sambalpur and Bargarh subdivisions were part of what is now Chhatisgarh State (formerly Central Province). In 1936 a separate province of Orissa was created. In 1948 the areas of the former states of Bamra and Rairakhol were added to Sambalpur district. In 1969 a new Padmapur Sub-division was established, covering the Bijepur, Gaisilet, Jagadalpur, Melchhamunda, Padmapur, Paikamal and Sohela Police Stations of the former Bargarh Sub-division.
