IHB Limited is a joint venture with three leading central oil and gas companies namely Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. Incorporated on 09.07.2019, the joint venture company was formed to implement the prestigious Kandla-Gorakhpur LPG pipeline project and thereafter to operate and manage the pipeline.

This 2,800 km long LPG pipeline is expected to be the world’s longest LPG pipeline once completed. The pipeline will facilitate the transportation of LPG from the West Coast to various demand centers in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner and will replace the existing road/rail mode of transportation. The pipeline would help fill the LPG shortfall by transporting LPG through a pipeline from the west coast to bottling plants in these three states.

The pipeline will be built at an investment of Rs 10,088 crore and will source LPG from LPG import terminals at Kandla, Dahej and Pipavav and two refineries at Koyal and Bina. The pipeline would be directly connected to 22 LPG bottling plants (3 in Gujarat, 6 in Madhya Pradesh and 13 in Uttar Pradesh) and 21 bottling plants indirectly, significantly optimizing the logistics costs currently borne by LPG transport promoters.

Once completed, that single pipeline will be able to transport about 8.25 million tonnes of LPG per annum (MMTPA), which is about 25 percent of India’s total LPG demand. The pipeline is estimated to benefit around 3 lakh people in the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh with uninterrupted LPG supply.
