Before 1921, there was no central authority in the state to advise the government and other appointing authorities on matters of recruitment of civil servants. The board and the appointing authorities have made appointments in accordance with the principles laid down by the board from time to time. On 16.5.1921, the government founded for the first time a central recruitment agency under the name “Central Recruitment Agency” by Order No. 1827:80 E.A.G.308.

As the accommodation did not meet the actual requirements of the Commission, its office was shifted to “Balabrooi” Palace Road, Bangalore on 21 May 1951 and remained there till 7 November 1956. It was then moved to the present region of Park House in the northwest of Vidhana Soudha. The commission celebrated its “golden anniversary” on March 1, 2002, and the foundation stone was laid for the construction of the commission’s new building. The building was inaugurated on 19.11.2005 and now the office is functioning in a new building called “Udyoga Soudha”.
In addition, on May 18, 2011, the Commission celebrated its Diamond Jubilee after 60 years of service. In memory of this auspicious day, a foundation stone was laid in the office of the office for the construction of another new building “Vajra Mahotsava Soudhan”, which will more effectively meet the growing need and serve the people in general and the candidates in particular. .
