About Maharashtra DES Recruitment 2023 – 260 Asst Research Officer, Statistical Asst & Other Posts Apply Online IndGovtjobs
The Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES) serves as the main statistical organization of the Government of Maharashtra and is administratively controlled by the Mantralaya Planning Department. The DES office headed by Shri. Vijay Aher is located on the 8th floor of the Administration Building in the outskirts of Mumbai, Bandra (East) where the DES IT Center is located on the 4th and 7th floors of the new Administration Building overlooking Mantralaya, Mumbai.
The main tasks of the Directorate are the collection of official statistics, the collection of data through surveys, censuses and standard research on subjects for which official statistics are insufficient; analyze the data thus collected; conduct the evaluation of major programs; issue regular statistical publications; Provision of training for statistical staff; Coordinate the work of the statistical departments in the various departments of the national government, provide them with technical advice and advise the national government on economic and statistical matters.
As the main office for state statistics, the directorate is to act as a liaison between the state government and the central government in all statistical matters.The processing of statistical information collected by this ministry and other government services is carried out in the information technology department of this ministry.
