The Workers Selection Committee (MPESB), popularly known as Vyapam (short for the Hindi name Madhya Pradesh Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal), is a workers selection committee in Madhya Pradesh, India. It organizes various entrance tests for courses and vocational training.
It is the main examination body of the Government of Madhya Pradesh and reports directly to the Directorate of Technical Education (Government of Madhya Pradesh). The Madhya Pradesh Workers Selection Board is a self-funded, autonomous and incorporated body of the State Government. The Government reinstated the Board of Trustees to make decisions on policy and organizational matters under the Madhya Pradesh Personnel Selection Board Act.2020.
This was in the national news about the Vyapam scam which was a massive admissions and hiring scam involving politicians, senior officials and businessmen. After the fraud was exposed, 2,000 people were arrested, including former education minister Laxmikant Sharma and exam controller Vyapam Pankaj Trivedi.
