Klavya Model Residential School (EMRS) is the Government of India program for adedicated model boarding school for planned tribes across India. It is one of the flagship policies of the Government of India’s Department of Tribal Affairs and was introduced in 1997-1998 to provide tribal students with access to quality education in remote tribal areas.

EMRS are established in States/UTs with subsidies under Art.275sec1 of the Indian Constitution.According to the 2018-19budget,by2022, every block with more than 50% ST population and at least 20,000 tribal members will have an Eklavya Model Housing School.The additional costs are borne by the state governments. By the end of 2018, a total of 284 EMRS had been sanctioned, of which up to 32 were approved in Madhya Pradesh.

There are approximately 226 EMRSs nationwide and 68 of these are affiliated with the CBSE.[4] Introduction Aspart of the trend of establishing quality boarding schools to promote education in all areas and districts of the country, the Eklavya Model Boarding Schools (EMRS) for ST students take their place under the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV)and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas a(KGBV) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV).
