National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) is one of the 31 Institutes of National Importance established by an Act of Parliament (National Institute of Technology Act, 2007) and is fully funded by the Government of India. The institute’s mission is to provide technical higher education and conduct research in various fields of technology, science, engineering and management. Originally established in 1961 as a Regional Engineering College (REC), it was converted into a National Institute of Technology in 2002.

The institute offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs in engineering, science, technology and management. Through proactive collaboration with many research organizations, academic institutions and industries, the institute has created a new style of operating its NIT system. NIT Calicut is located in a picturesque landscape at the foothills of the Western Ghats, approximately 22 km northeast of Calicut, Kerala, India. It stretches along the Calicut-Mukkam highway for about 1.5 kilometers and covers an area of ​​about 120 acres.

Calicut, also known as Kozhikode, located in the Malabar region of Kerala state, found its place in world history when the Portuguese navigator Vasco Da Gama discovered the sea route to India in 1 98. Originally established as a Regional Technical College (REC) in 1961, National Institute of Technology Calicut started its victorious journey with a new spirit in 2002 with a new name and mandate.
