As a result of the power sector reform in Odisha, Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd. (OHPC) was incorporated on 21 April 1995 under the Companies Act, 1956. Its objectives are: To purchase, construct, operate, maintain, renovate, modernize hydro, thermal, nuclear and other power generation plants based on all non-conventional energy sources simultaneously in the state of Odisha and elsewhere.
Engaged in the purchase, sale, import, export, production, trade, manufacturing or other business of hydro, thermal and nuclear electricity based on all non-conventional energy sources.
Investigate, investigate, collect information and data, review operations, plan, investigate, design, prepare feasibility reports, prepare project reports, diagnose operational difficulties and weaknesses and advise corrective measures for improvement and modernization of existing plants and facilitate and implement and on behalf of other hydroelectric, thermal and nuclear power plants construction, as well as other power plants based on any non-conventional energy source.
The objectives related to the achievement of the main objectives or secondary objectives are to acquire business/companies for commercial activities in the electricity sector, to acquire know-how, to engage in consulting services in one of its branches, to act as an entrepreneur in the electricity sector. on behalf of the Central Government or any State Government.
