Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCFL) is a leading chemical and fertilizer company approximately 75% owned by the Government of India. The company received the coveted “Miniratna” status in 1997. The company has two operating units, one in Trombay, Mumbai and the other in Thal, Raigad District, about 100 km from Mumbai. RCF manufactures Urea, Compound Fertilizers, Organic Fertilizers, Micronutrients, 100% Water Soluble Fertilizers, Soil Improvers and a wide range of Industrial Chemicals.

The brands of fertilizers “Ujjwala” (Urea) and “Suphala” (Compound Fertilizer) manufactured by RCF have high brand value and national recognition.These products are supplied to the most remote corners of the country by a vast network of RCF dealers across the country. In addition to fertilizers, RCF also produces many industrial chemicals that are important for the manufacture of dyes, solvents, leather, pharmaceuticals and many other industrial products.

The two RCF production units are accredited according to ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System), ISO 45001 (Health and Safety at Work), ISO 50001:2011 (Energy Management System at Work) and ISO 27001 (Information Safety Management). The RCF has been doing well for a number of years and is one of the few PSUs to consistently post gains.

Sustainability is at the heart of RCF and we continuously strive to integrate sustainability into all aspects of our business operations.Currently, the RCF is self-sufficient in meeting its needs for valuable water and power resources. RCF operates two Wastewater Treatment Plants (STP) in the Trombay unit. Combined, the two plants have the capacity to treat 45.50 BILLION (million liters per day) of municipal wastewater and produce 30 BILLION (million liters per day) of treated water for industrial use. RCF and BPCL have reached an agreement to supply approximately 40% of the treated water to BPCL.

The facility serves two purposes. First, it solves the problem of wastewater treatment and disposal. Second, it relieves BMC of its obligation to provide 30 BILLION drinking water, thereby providing an equivalent amount of water to the community. RCF commissioned GT-HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generation Gas Turbine) plants in the Trombay and Thal blocks. Through this process, the RCF generates the energy it needs to meet its needs. RCF is pursuing India’s vision of environmentally sustainable growth and has already ventured into solar power generation, including ground and rooftop installations.

RCF has a total solar power generation capacity of 4.01 MWp or more than 5,000 MWh of green energy per year. The green energy produced by solar power plants replaces the conventional energy produced by burning fossil fuels, resulting in a reduction in overall greenhouse gas emissions . RCF has always strived to preserve power plants by modernizing and improving technology.Reorganization and elimination of bottlenecks is the secret that has allowed the company to grow for over fifty years.

This has made it easier for factories to stay in business and meet the technological challenges such as increasing efficiency, reducing energy consumption and meeting environmental standards. This enabled the company to achieve the highest standards of product safety and quality.
