Originally the Government of Uttar Pradesh established the Subservices Selection Committee by the 1988 Regulations, which was later reorganized by Act No. 7 of 1988, for the direct hiring of any C positions designated by the State Government by notice to that name.

The Council may also consider an application for such hiring by a state-owned, state-owned or government-controlled corporation or corporation for positions within this body. The council had a separate legal entity from the government. On May 31, 1990, the above-mentioned council was dissolved and converted into a commission with a president and a maximum of five members.

Also, the Uttar Pradesh Sub-Services Selection Commission (Amendment) Act 1993 was enacted to establish/amend the terms of service of the commission chair and members. With this change, the committee was transformed into a government department. In 1997, on December 28, the above law was repealed by decree and subsequently replaced by Law No. .P. Law n. 1 of 2006.

However, this law was amended by the U.P. raised up.Regulation No. 6 of 2007 followed by Act No. the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Committees Act 2014 which came into force on 20 June 2014. Following the resignation of the then Chair and five of its members on April 6, 2017, the current Committee and former Chair were appointed and the members later joined the Commission, mid-January 2018.
